Love your own Heart

Love your own Heart

Monthly News Updates 1

Have you ever felt that you didn’t have the “heart” to do something? That is because our heart is more than just a muscular organ. It is the epicenter that feeds our minds and bodies emotions. Our hearts give us the courage to carry on and to change. It is where strength and weakness thrive. Our hearts and minds are intimately connected, and our emotions have a direct impact on the health of our hearts.

Our beating hearts are at the core of what it means to be alive. Unfortunately the past two years have been quite challenging in maintaining a healthy lifestyle that supports heart health. Isolation, masking, social distancing, illness, delays in healthcare, etc., etc. has lead to frustration, and a lack of interest in the things we need to do to stay healthy. In times like these it’s important to remember that humans have the ability to change and adapt. We can change and improve our thinking, perspective, and lifestyle, even under the most challenging of circumstances and help our hearts thrive.

Heart disease remains the number one disease and killer of Americans, and under times of stress it is even more vital that we show our hearts some love. To maintain a healthy body, we must start from within. How can we nurture our emotional side during these difficult times?

  • Maintain strong relationships with our family and friends, one phone call a day will keep us connected.
  • Stay in touch with your true feelings by keeping a journal.
  • Be kind, the simple act of kindness can go a long way in improving someone’s day.
  • Adopt a new hobby, like making art, DIY projects, or puzzles.
  • Be sure to incorporate things that bring you happiness into each day, such as listening to music (our hearts are the drums that beat the rhythm of our body.) Or sing out loud, it brings oxygen to your heart!

Remember to do physical activities like walking, eat a well-balanced diet, and drink plenty of fluids. With simple changes to our emotional and physical activities we can improve positive thinking and strengthen our hearts.
