October 10th is World Mental Health Day, an international day for global mental health education, awareness, and to help erase the social stigma of mental health. At Family Caregivers Network we care about mental health, especially in older individuals with chronic illnesses. Over 20% of adults aged 60 and over suffer from mental health or neurological disorders. The most common of these are depression and Dementia. The past 8 months has increased the risks of mental health disorders in our aging population due to the isolation from COVID 19. Additionally chronic illnesses, chronic pain, loss of a spouse, loss of functional abilities leads to increased depression and mental health issues. At Family Caregivers Network we care about your mental health. We can help with our support groups, care management support services, and our in-home caregivers offering friendly companionship. Go to our What’s New page to learn more about Mental Health Matters. Follow us on social media as we spread awareness and education on mental health.
